Butler and Wilson

WOW! Pretty much covers what I have to say about this English company (now celebrating its 40th anniversary). I'm definitely a "bling girl", meaning I like things that glitters and to accessories my outfits. Butler and Wilson's designs are way over the top and I love it! Encompassing beautiful jewel-encrusted evening bags, exquisite semi precious jewels and dramatic hair accessories, Butler & Wilson will fire your desire for serious sparkle! The shop just off Oxford Street London is an exotic treasure trove of beautiful accessories and it's enough just to look without buying. From vintage clothing and beaded purses to sparkling necklaces and bracelets, practically every kind of accessory imaginable can be found here encrusted with semi precious stones, glittering gems, beads and sequins. You'll find A-list people such as Hillary Duff wearing some serious bling bling from Butler and Wilson. Princess Diana loved the brand as well.

Grønlykke, Copenhagen

Today I went to a store in Copenhagen, one of my faves, with things from all over the world; It has carpets from Syria, tablecloths from China, Japanese dolls, skirts from Vietnam (I saw them on the tripe people of Sapa), french china and much much more. One thing that always inspires me is the colors. The shops is rainbow of colors, and things seem to be as unmatching as they can get so they actually match! Some of the things are a bit pricy, but you can always get some inspiration and make your own stuff. Get your picture perfect home or just some inspiration on http://www.gronlykke.com/.

Spotted: scarf

I'm a big fan of scarves. If your outfit is too borring or just need that certain something, put on a scarf. It's a huge trend at the moment even though the weather is getting warm. Here is a scarf By Malene Birger, that my friend was wearing with a leather jacket, gold earrings, great polish on her nails and swirls in her hair. I like that the colors of this scarf aren't matching and the size of it is great.

Interview with a VintageSoul

Stella McCartney wedges

I "met" Sam on my fave fashionista website senseofashion. I fell in love with all her beautiful pictures and items- mostly vintage dresses and cool designer shoes. I'm crazy about her Stella McCartney wedges, they look like a piece of art. She turned out to be a fellow blogger too! Wanna get to know Sam better? Stop by http://dailyfashionboost.blogspot.com/

What's your name? My actual name is Suzanne Anna Madeleine, but everyone calls me Sam. Just to keep it simple!

Where are you from? I'm from The Netherlands.

What inspires you? Hmm.. I always think that's a hard questions. I think that my biggest inspiration are my own clothes. If I pick out a dress, skirt or a top, I Immediatly see a whole outfit in front of me. And sometimes when I see someone with the same sort of dress, I get inspiration from that! And ofcourse also from my fellow bloggers and street style sites!

Where do you shop? It's a long time ago I went shopping for clothes in an actual store. Mostly I buy my clothes from a site, that specialize in vintage clothes. For the shoes I kind of aalways go to Amsterdam or Utrecht. There are my favorite shoe stores!

Your favourite designer(s)? That is with no doubt Miuccia Prada!

What is your favourite item for the summer? My Prada shoes from this season. They're dark brown with light brown and they walk so comfortable, even though they're pretty high and I can match them with a lot of clothingpieces I own! But it's so bad that I don't have much occasions to wear them to, because I can't wear them when I'm at work or at school. I have to walk way too much for that!

What do you wish you had from the runway this season? The thing I really wanted from the runway are the Prada shoes I already own. But I also really really want the mesh sandals from Stella McCartney. They truly are my dream shoes.

Thank you Sam! Keep up the good work!

Some inspiration. I love when men dare to wear something like the Israeli guy in pink from head to toe. I think I could look at him for hours. For more great looks from the streets of Israel, go to israblog.nana10.co.il/ilook

Maxi dress

The maxi dress has become a summer staple. You'll find all the celebs wearing it on and off the red-carpet. I don't think the dress is for every shape and size, shorter people could easily drown in all the fabric, however it's my own opinion, and you will see the petite Nicole Richie looking great in the dress. Wear it for summer weddings or parties or wear it with leather amazone sandals for a more relaxed hippie look. I found one of mine in H&M with flower prints (see pic below).

  • If you are tall and slim, any style of the maxi dress will suit you.

  • If you are wider around the waist, keep the dress fitted up top with only a slight flow at the bottom. A-line dresses is perfect for your figure.

  • Heavier women should choose bold prints and colors. Avoid small prints and light colors so as not to add width and depth to their body.

  • If you have a bigger bust, a halterneck or bandeau top are more flattering. Avoid spaghetti straps.

Matthew Williamson ss09

Here are some pictures of my favourite outfits from Matthew Williamson's ss09 show. I love how he blend rough items like the leather skirt with a cute girly top. The general look was hippy, boho style with sharp, skinny trouser suits and acid bright, biker jackets. But you would also find kaftans with print and long red-carpet dresses.

Stina

One of my plans with this site, is to take pictures of people in the streets. Well, I still haven't had the guts to stop someone and asked them to pose and answer some questions. So for now I'll show you a pic of my friend Stina who always knows how to match things, even som old stuff from her mom. She is wearing a t-shirt by Lagerfeld for H&M, her mom's leather jacket from the 80ies and some VERY skinny jeans.

Medina, danish artist/songwriter

Medina - Kun for mig
She has the same name as one of the most sacred cities of Muslims. Medina is 25 years old and from Demark. She was born Andrea, but later changed her name to Medina (for luck). Her single "Kun for mig" (only for me), was number 1 on the tracklist leaving Infernal, Katy Perry, The Killers and Lady Gaga behind her. She is mixing American r'n'b with a more European type of dance music. She is currently writing for other artists and working on her 2nd album (out in summer 2009).

Better than Lady Gaga!

Rag and Bone

Rag and Bone was founded in 2002. They had one very clear vision in mind: to make clothes that they and their friends would love to wear everyday. They didn't have any fashion education. They began in Kentucky and surrounded themselves with craftsmen, who had been making patterns, cutting fabric and sewing their whole lives. They learned to pay attention to details early on and they decided to center all of their manufacturing in U.S. factories that still sew clothes the same way they did 50 years ago. Rag & Bone launched their men's line in Spring 2004 and expanded the label to offer a full women's collection by Fall 2005. The Fall Winter 2007 season marked the introduction of rag & bone accessories for both men and women, adding a touch of style and distinction to their tailored looks. Guided by a strong British tailoring influence, Rag & Bone produces classic yet modern sportswear for men and women that is known for being understated and wearable.
The Rag and Bone SS09 collection had a tailored yet rock and roll silhouettes that sometimes verge on a rockabilly theme. There is definitely some pieces that I would love to get my hands on!

Wikipedia.org: Rag-and-bone man is a British phrase for a junk dealer. Historically the phrase referred to an individual who would travel the streets of a city with a horsedrawn cart, and would collect old rags, (for converting into fabric and paper), bones for making glue, scrap iron and other items, often trading them for other items of limited value.
