MCFF

A friend of mine worked as a hairdresser at Monte Carlo Fashion Forum's show last week in Monaco  She took a picture of this dress. I really like the metallic look. Unfortunately I don't know who designed it.

Alexander McQueen, RIP

Oh my! So happy that I'm not one of the stars and idols, cause it seems like all of them die or commit suicide. The late Alexander McQueen was found dead yesterday February 11th in his home in London. The Sun claims he hanged himself, but it hasn't been confirmed by the police. His beloved mother died the 2nd of February and it might be the thing that pulled the tricker. He was a great great talent! The pictures: 1-4: from his ss10 colelction, 5: his famous sull purse, 6: from his fw09/10 collection.

The office of Alecander McQueens made following statement:

On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family.

Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.

By Malene Birger ss10

I said it many times before, but I'll say it again; I L.O.V.E Malene Birger's creations! Every single piece. I love the colours, the fabrics, the accesories and how she mix the different pieces. I think a lot of her clothes is timeless. In some way she resembles Stella McCartney. It's more or less the same colours they use, same shapes etc. She's a favourite of mine too. The only thing I don't like, is the black and white dresses. They are a little to 80ies for my taste. Wow guess it's the first time she made something I didn't like. Anyway, I could go on and on, so let's skip all the small talk and go to the pictures.

Stella McCartney AW 09 campaign and runway

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 campaign is like a scene out of Disney's Bambi . The model is model Sigrid Agren (Chloé and ck Calvin Klein fall '09 ads) and the campaign was shot by photographer Ryan McGinley in the woods of Worcestershire, England.

"I'm a huge Bambi fan, and the film reminds me of my mum," said McCartney, referring to Linda McCartney who died in '98. "And we wanted to have some fun. The clothes in the campaign are looking quite fierce, and we wanted to contrast them with the innocence of Bambi," she added. I think the idea with the cartoons was a great idea. The contrast brings something extra to the campaign, an eyecatcher, a fantasy world of fashion...

Nelly's Delhi loves Lily Donaldson

Lily Donaldson is a British topmodel who is working it on aswell as off the runway. It seems like her closet is overridden with black, white, or gray items; all very classic and casual (in a non casual way hhhh...). She wears a minimum of accessories and her nude leps, no smokey eyes or heavy eyeliner makes her look all the more effortless and chic.

Camilla and Marc ss09/10

Sydney based fashion label Camilla And Marc has experienced a meteoric rise in Australia and in the international world of fashion since it's inception in 2003. The people behind the label is the sister and brother duo, Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman. They described their inspiration for the sso9/10 collection as sex, strength and skin. The floaty femininity of their previous collections was still very much a part of their designs, but this time they incorporated tougher materials, metallics and chains. The contrast of the leopard-print shoe boots and the pared-back nude palette was a fun standout. The shoulder silhouette blazers were very Balmain-like. If you like the feminine style of Stella McCartney and the street cool style by Alexander Wang, you should take a closer look at Camilla and Marc who combined these to labels in the most beautiful way.

Shorts trend

Nothing says summer like a pair of shorts and luckly they are a must-have this season. The great thing is, that you can use them for any kind of event this summer. No matter what shape you wear, the freshest way to wear shorts this season, is with tops that hit at the hip – whether wearing them at work or for a night out. Pair them with boots, stilettos or gladiators... anything goes. You'll also find shorts in the menswear department. Take a look at Dolce & Gabbana ss09 and Missoni ss09.

  • Shorts for Petite Women
Women with a smaller stature or short legs can create the illusion of longer legs by wearing shorts with a shorter hemline. Don't be afraid of high heels; adding a heel lengthen the legs.

  • Shorts for Tall WomenTall women look extremely chic in a mid-thigh or knee-length short.

  • Flattering Shapes of Shorts
The most flattering shorts sit low on the waist with a narrow, straight leg, but ladies with wider hips and thighs should to choose a wider leg, to minimize the hips/thighs.

Matthew Williamson ss09

Here are some pictures of my favourite outfits from Matthew Williamson's ss09 show. I love how he blend rough items like the leather skirt with a cute girly top. The general look was hippy, boho style with sharp, skinny trouser suits and acid bright, biker jackets. But you would also find kaftans with print and long red-carpet dresses.

Rag and Bone

Rag and Bone was founded in 2002. They had one very clear vision in mind: to make clothes that they and their friends would love to wear everyday. They didn't have any fashion education. They began in Kentucky and surrounded themselves with craftsmen, who had been making patterns, cutting fabric and sewing their whole lives. They learned to pay attention to details early on and they decided to center all of their manufacturing in U.S. factories that still sew clothes the same way they did 50 years ago. Rag & Bone launched their men's line in Spring 2004 and expanded the label to offer a full women's collection by Fall 2005. The Fall Winter 2007 season marked the introduction of rag & bone accessories for both men and women, adding a touch of style and distinction to their tailored looks. Guided by a strong British tailoring influence, Rag & Bone produces classic yet modern sportswear for men and women that is known for being understated and wearable.
The Rag and Bone SS09 collection had a tailored yet rock and roll silhouettes that sometimes verge on a rockabilly theme. There is definitely some pieces that I would love to get my hands on!

Wikipedia.org: Rag-and-bone man is a British phrase for a junk dealer. Historically the phrase referred to an individual who would travel the streets of a city with a horsedrawn cart, and would collect old rags, (for converting into fabric and paper), bones for making glue, scrap iron and other items, often trading them for other items of limited value.

Liberty Fabric

Summer and flowers go hand in hand. That's probably why I can't get enough of the London based Liberty Fabric company. The prints are designed by a wonderful artist named Tana Lawn, who has kept the traditional Art Nouveau prints while also modernizing the pattern offering with a more playful aesthetic.
Nike teamed up with Liberty on the Dunk High. For the ladies out there who have been looking for these, you can find them at nikestore.com.
